Search The Future

Here are thoughts about the future from one of the participants of the Street-Level Youth Media’s Summer Arts Apprenticeship Program, "Technology and the Future":

What's so bad about all of this Global Warming?

Opinion Page (Op-Ed) - Year 2020

On October 11, 2020, News of Future reported that Mount Kilimanjaro has lost its snowcap. The mountain has had its snowcap for 11,000 years. The scientists fear the reason that the ice cap is melting is that the temperature has rose by 0.8 Celsius, which means that its has slowed down the rain and the ice caps can't freeze and can't form ice crystals.

I want to know what is the big problem. What do the ice caps really do for our environment?  It hasn't been a concern to the world. It's not like it's stopping us from breathing.

On the other hand it`s actually causing deforestation and that`s killing are forest around Africa. That means that animals die, which affects ecosystems, and that messes up the environment. All of this could cause big changes.

I guess global warming does have an effect on the world.
