Mount Kilimanjaro Naked in the Future

The mountain has had the snowcap since the last ice age, 11,000 years ago. Farmers have during the last decades burned down forests to make way for crops to the growing population in Tanzania, heading for 50 million compared to 38 million 15 years ago. Since forests are essential for rain, the mountaintop has got less rain than needed to keep the shining snowcap, which also has affected the mountain's plant and animal life.
The highest point at Mount Kilimanjaro is Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters above sea level, and was first conquered in 1889 by Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller.
Argument: According to scientists at United Nations Environment Programme, Mount Kilimanjaro will lose the snowcap completely by year 2020.
