Re-Hydro to Dominate in the Future
April 12, 2040 - Although introduced in the market only five years ago, 10% of all hydrogen fuel now sold in the US is of the enviromental friendly Re-Hydro label, produced through electrolysis based on a source of 100% renewable energy.
Several producers have switched to producing Re-Hydro, mainly because of tax incentives, which also keep the price of Re-Hydro on the same level as regular hydrogen.
10% in five years might not seem much, especially compared to the move to lead free gasoline 50 years ago, which only took a decade. When producing hydrogen vast amount of energy is needed, and the main issue of producing Re-Hydro has been the lack of energy from renewable sources and that it is not generated close to the production plants.
Most analysts believe though that Re-Hydro will be the dominating fuel in the future, and the incentives to switch has already led to great improvements in producing energy even more efficient from solar, wind and water.
Since hydrogen-hybrids together with fuel-cells eventually will force gasoline vehicles off the road, followed by long-term and patient support of Re-Hydro from the government, it could be the opportunity that environmentalists in several decades have hoped for to put the last nail in the coffin of fossil fuels.
But the progress is slow, so far only 4.1 million cars running on hydrogen have been sold in the US, which is about 1.5% of the total fleet. Iceland is the leader in the world, both when it comes to hydrogen and using re-hydro, with 100% of the car fleet now on re-hydro.
Argument: The development of hydrogen-fueled cars is based on several different sources, with the optimistic scenarios for a fast introduction on the market, to the book The Hype about Hydrogen by Joseph J. Romm. With the development in renewable sources of energy it will be possible for environmental labeled hydrogen.
Questions: Will there be other fuel alternatives to hydrogen when gasoline will be replaced? Will Re-Hydro put an end to fossil fuels?

January 19, 2035 - According to the latest statistics presented this week, 1 million hydrogen-fueled cars have now been sold in the US. The figures for last year show an increase in sales by 50% from 2033.

January 8, 2035 - With a first prize of seven million US dollar and the intriguing plot of trying to fool or outsmart Arnold, the most advanced artificial intelligence in public use, the much hyped live show “Fooling Arnold” became the people’s choice this Saturday.
December 20, 2030 - The launch yesterday of the virtual realistic-looking human newscaster from Simple News gained rave reviews. Others have made several attempts earlier, but this sends the live newscasters in to a pretty shaky future.
December 18, 2020 - This year shows strong growth for wind power when the total global installed capacity added a record 62,000 MW, making the total capacity more than 680,000 MW. Wind power is by far the renewable source with the largest growth in worldwide capacity during the last decade.
December 15, 2030 - There's no doubt what the most popular Christmas present will be this year. Influenced by the launch of the first manned mission to Mars next month, you will most likely get a present with stars, a gift card for a spacetrip.
November 19, 2040 - Today was a historic day for Iceland when their President this morning at a symbolic ceremony officially shut down the last gasoline pump in the country. Iceland is a model country when it comes to the fuel transition from gasoline to hydrogen and became today the first country in the world to complete it.
September 21, 2050 - At a press conference today it was announced that the first tourist heading for Mars will be the 38-year-old US businessman Patrick Clifford. He will leave the earth in the launching window of June 2052 and set his foot on the surface of Mars in November, together with the other 6 astronauts assigned for the mission to further explore the planet.
September 12, 2035 - Are you kidding? Is it possible to beam myself? No, of course not, but you can now make a 3-D projection of yourself anywhere in the world. The first product for real teleimmersion has been released, the Telebeamer.
September 5, 2035 - More than 20,000 quadriplegics around the world have now got a BCI, a Brain Computer Interface. It gives them the ability to control their environment, from driving their own electric wheelchairs outside their house, to make their own dinner.

Comments:
The above statements are to believed to accurate they seem reasonable and yes hopefully it will be the last nail to the coffin of fossil fuels

how do you know this is true?

This won't happen. Running cars on hydrogen makes little sense when you can run them on electricity. Hydrogen might be used for storing energy in some situations as solar and wind power are not continuous the power needs to be smoothed out. But even there there are probably better solutions.

By 2040, all oil products will be very expensive and not used to power personal vehicles or heat homes. The private auto's days are numbered, and will be phased out over the next 30 years.
Some form of hydrogen will be in use, but, not likely by private citizens. Electric vehicles for short trips and public transport for longer ones (50 miles or more.) By then airlines will only fly between major cities and will be multiples of the present cost. Trains will replace planes for inter city travel. Bio-fuels will never be a significant percentage of our energy needs.

Actually, bio-fuels will probably be in use for the coming 10 years, but then we will realize that it is far too expensive to mass produce. My guess is mass wind farms and solar plants to park next to and charge your car. Hydrogen will most likely be used for backup generators, tractors, tanks, bombs, etc.

Hey,
what about northern countries like Finland or a state of USA, Alaska. Do you believe that electricity can run cars when it is -35 degrees outside? I think that we need alternatives fuels and hydrogen could be really good option in Finland or Sweden.

Yes. Hydrogen is the Future Energy Carrier. Together with Fuel Cells,Hydrogen has great future as energy alternative.
